The Olabisi Onabanjo University graduate of Business Administration has in the last few years roseto be a force in the movie industry.Coming from a theatre background where Mumand Dad are major players, he moved away from the shadows of his father to become one of the most sought after actors in today’s Nollywood. The handsome dude made astunning start in the year 2011 with a massive appearance in Saidi Balogun’s new filmETI KETA, where he played a major role.In this brief encounter, the young actor says his family name has helped him a great deal, “I have always believed I will make it. I have theprospect and the familylineage to be up there. Directly or indirectly, myfamily name has actually helped me. Even though, my father has not been influencing roles for me, I still go onand make the family proud.”Speaking on his role in the blockbuster ETI KETA, Sunkanmi said, “There is a whole lot of difference in the roles I have played in the past and my role in ETI KETA.The movie ETI KETA is not just a movie; it is a brand. It is a total package. It has opened a whole of doors for me. It is my biggest challenge so far. It has made me a bigger person. From storyline, equipment and cast, it is a perfect movie.” He said. Sunkanmi has on several occasions being linked with Yahoo boys but, the young moneybag says, let them say, “Everybody has a right to say whatever they like, most especially when they don’t understand your relationship with God. A lot of insinuations will come because many do not know how much God is blessing me. If you listen to MI, he says “when you fine too much they say you turngay…when you get money too much they say na nineteen..” anybody can say whatever they like to say. I am not bothered; it means God is doing great things in my life.”He was also accused of being rude; hear him, “I think that is a major misconception about me. I am not rude as perceived by some people. I am a totally different person from what people see on television. I am a very humble person.” Now that he is totally immersed in the theatre ocean, what happens to his Bachelor of Science Degree? “Yes, I have a degree in Business Administration. I don’t see myself as a non-practicing non-practicing Administrator. I believe no knowledge is waste. I apply my knowledge of administration into theatre. I do not regret not going for a white collar job. It is making me a better person and a manager.” and women,“I love them so much. I appreciate them. Most of my fans are women. I know I am safe with them; because I respect them a lot.”
