Tenant Attempts To Set House Ablaze with Generator set


An angry tenant, Thaddeus Chukwudorum who allegedly attempted to set his landlord’s house on fire has been charged before the Apapa Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
Chukwudorum allegedly operated his generator in his room at 33, Alaka Street, Olodi Apapa, Lagos in an attempt to set the house ablaze after his landlord, Chinakwaeze Cleyus, ordered him to pack out.
Trouble started between him and his landlord when he allegedly sublet a part of the house to another tenant for N150,000.
The landlord got to know about it and asked him to pack out.
In anger, Chukwudorum allegedly carried his generator and went inside his apartment where he operated it.
It took the intervention of the police who raced to the scene and switched off the generator to avert a
disaster. Chukwudorum was arrested and charged to court under Sections 86 and 390 of the Criminal Code, 2003.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. I. Adelaja granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the matter.
