Sexed-Up Teen Series Shut Down! MTV Cancels Skins
An Americanized version of a racy British hit series about teenagers 'skins', the MTV series started hitting rough waters early on, when protests launched against the sexual content driving the show. Soon after, advertisers like Taco Bell, GM, Wrigley and Subway decided to optout of affilation with them. "I'm not sure if it comes as much of a surprise, but it's a message for MTV and other cable networks that there are some lines that aren't meant to be crossed," said Parents Television Council's Dan Isett toThe Wrap about the cancellation. "Life would be easier if MTV and other networks would take the concerns of parents and families seriously before even beginning production on something like this," he told the site. Luckily, the network's latest series Teen Wolf hasn't caused the same kind of commotion, though we've heard that there's a lot of sex.
