Former First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan appears to be tired of fighting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in court and has asked for out-of-court settlement. In a January 30, 2018 letter, titled “Proposal for out-of-Court Settlement of all cases related to Dame (Mrs.) Ibifaka Patience Jonathan,” she told the EFCC of her intention to settle the matter. The letter, which was written by her counsel, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), is being considered by the EFCC. The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, stated in an interview session with staff to mark it’s 14th year anniversary that the commission will always fight in ensuring that corruption is completely wiped out in Nigeria, a development that will ensure Nigeria retains her position in the comity of nations. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI has issued certificates of outstanding performance to some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The beneficiaries are officers who participated actively in the arrest of Nigerian fraudsters that had been on the wanted persons list of the FBI. OPERATIVES of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, yesterday, swooped on the Abuja residence of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, and arrested him. This came after several days of hide and seek game between him and the anti-graft agency over alleged financial impropriety. His arrest was effected after the operatives laid siege to his house for four hours. The EFCC is also going after three other principal officers of the House. Rep.
