Two of the robbery suspects arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command for killing a Taxify driver and snatching his vehicle have confessed that they formed their robbery gang in Kirikiri Prison. The suspects, Simon Tyozemda (27) from Benue State and Lucky Friday (24) from Delta State were arrested on Wednesday, 14th March, 2018 with two long knives inside a UBER operated cab, a Toyota Camry Saloon with the registration number APP 145 EE, which they had planned to kill its driver and steal. The gang leader, Simon had through his girlfriend’s UBER app ordered a Taxi at past 11:00 p.m. last week. The con man then called Paul asking him to help send 5 million naira to a friend as he was having issues with his online banking and this according to Paul was what gave him away. An infuriated man believed to be bank’s customer has taken law into his hand by setting the local bank on fire. In an amateur video made available to 9News Nigeria by an eye witness, the angry man was seen emerging from the banking hall already in flames with a gallon of what was believed to be petrol and walked in a fast pace to the bank’s ATM machine and poured the petrol all over the ATM machine before torching it with a lighter. In the midst of onlookers, the man walked out of the bank’s premises towards a motorbike parked in front of the bank and set it ablaze as well before moving towards a parked vehicle to torch it as well. With the intervention of the on-lookers, the angry man left the vehicle and started running upwards on the main road where the local bank was situated. At this point sound of siren believed to be that of the police was heard before the man got out of sight. According to Guardian, the bill, which reflects the growing concern over the spate of violence in the nation, was sponsored by the spokesman of the upper chamber, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger). It also seeks the establishment of an ‘Independent National Commission for Hate Speeches’, which shall enforce hate speech laws across the country, ensure the elimination of the menace and advise the FG. Senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi speaking on tithing, has said it’s not compulsory as a new testament Christian to pay tithe. Speaking to his congregation, the pastor affirmed that it is not compulsory to pay tithe, adding that tithing was done in the old testament as a law with curses attached for defaulters. He added that there is no longer a curse attached to not paying tithe. “Tithing as practiced under the law of Moses as a regulation has expired!
